Child Visa (Subclass 101 – Offshore)

The Child Visa (Subclass 101) allows a biological, adopted, or step-child living outside Australia to move and live permanently with their Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible NZ citizen parent.

New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa (Subclass 461)
Live, Work, and Study in Australia with Your New Zealand Family Member
If you are a non-New Zealand family member of a New Zealand citizen living in Australia, you may be eligible for the New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa (Subclass 461).
This visa allows you to live, work, and study in Australia for up to 5 years, even if you are not a New Zealand citizen yourself.

What is the Subclass 461 Visa?
The Subclass 461 New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa is a temporary visa designed for eligible family members of a New Zealand citizen who is in Australia on a Special Category Visa (Subclass 444).

Who Can Apply?
You can apply for the Subclass 461 visa if:
1. You are not a New Zealand citizen.
2. You are a member of the family unit of a New Zealand citizen who holds a Subclass 444 Special Category Visa.
3. The New Zealand citizen is living in Australia or will be travelling to Australia with you.
4. You meet health and character requirements.
Eligible Family Members
You can apply if you are:
1. The spouse or de facto partner of a New Zealand citizen.
2. The child or step-child of that citizen or their partner.
3. The dependent child of a Subclass 461 visa holder.
Children included in the application must be under 18, or under 23 if financially dependent and studying full-time.
Visa Duration and Renewal
The Subclass 461 visa is granted for five (5) years and can be renewed indefinitely as long as:
1. You continue to be a member of the family unit of a New Zealand citizen who holds a Subclass 444 visa, or
2. You previously held a 461 visa and still meet the eligibility requirements
There is no limit to the number of times you can renew the visa, making it one of the most flexible family visa options in Australia.
Onshore and Offshore Applications
You can apply for the 461 visa either from inside or outside Australia:
1. Onshore (in Australia): You will receive a Bridging Visa allowing you to remain lawfully while your application is processed.
2. Offshore (outside Australia): You can enter Australia once the visa is granted.

For the New Zealand Citizen:
